Letting Legends Lead the Way

We're glad you've taken the time to visit our website. We are here to inform and excite those who are interested in Gypsy Cobs. Take a look through our website to learn more about us and our vision for North Fork, view our breeding stock and read about horses available for purchase. Whether you're here to learn more or just enjoy some glorious pictures of our favorite breed, we hope that you enjoy your time with us.

North Fork Gypsy Cobs is one of the leading Gypsy Cob Breeders in Canada with fully registered breeds from the Gypsy Vanner Horse Society. As the Gypsy Cob (also known as the Gypsy Vanner) is still considered rare in North America, we also promote this amazing breed across Canada and North America with our continuing involvement in shows, registry events and communication with other breeders across the country.

We offer nothing but the best quality Gypsy horses, with a large selection of mares, stallions, fillies, colts and geldings available for sale to our customers. We also offer stallions for stud services to select outside mares. All our foundation stock has been imported directly from Europe, many having DNA verified bloodlines, and each one has been registered with the Gypsy Vanner Horse Society.

It is our mission not only to provide the best horse for every client, but also to create a welcoming and friendly place for visitors, whether coming to us to find their own special horse, or visiting to enjoy the beauty and loving nature of our wonderful herd. It is our experience that time spent with this unique breed of horse helps one to de-stress and put away the cares of the day. We know you'll think so, too!

Our love for horses and our commitment to breeding the best of the best is the reason we are one of the most trusted and recommended Gypsy Vanner Horse breeders in Western Canada and North America.

As we have now retired, updates to this website will be discontinued as of May 1st, 2020. All horses that are still potentially for sale, please contact River Lane Ranch directly, who have purchased our herd. Thank you.

We are pleased and proud to announce that the remainder of the entire North Fork herd has now been sold to Dave and Carmel Baird of River Lane Ranch in Alberta, Canada. Dave and Carmel have been friends and customers of North Fork for years, so it is only fitting that they take on the ownership of our herd and help carry on the legacy we started. We couldn’t be more pleased for them and look forward to having a number of our beloved horses involved in their Healing with Horses program.

This marks the end of an era for Cheryl and I as North Fork Gypsy Cobs. We started this venture importing our first 6 horses in February of 2008. As circumstances changed throughout the years and we went to a herd management model, we realized that our inability to be with the horses on a daily basis changed our involvement and connection with them, and that horse life had became more business than pleasure. This direction in the end did not reflect our true love for these very special horses, and late last year Dave and Carmel graciously offered to help find homes for our beloved herd members on an individual basis, while taking care of them as their own. The sale of the remainder of the herd to River Lane is a natural progression in this journey.

Cheryl and I have enjoyed our time with these amazing horses over the past 12 years as well as the wonderful people we have met and relationships we have built because of them. We’d like to express our deepest gratitude to our customers, friends, fellow breeders and owners for feeding into our lives and sharing our love of the Gypsy Cob breed. We wish God’s richest blessings to you all and will always be here to visit with when Gypsy Horses are the topic of conversation.

Special Announcement:

What a joy and incredible journey it has been promoting this wonderful breed for the last 12 years. We are truly blessed.

However … after Dale had his heart attack in 2013 it became clear it was time to sell or make new arrangements. As many of you may know, for the last 6yrs we have had our horses taken care of by caring herd managers across Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia.

The special horses we have loved and the friendships we’ve made have added so much to our lives and we are so grateful. However, the herd management business model has allowed us to stay in the breeding business since then, but over these years we have missed our horses as we were not able to have any with us.

With all this in mind, we have with reluctance decided that it’s time for us to gradually leave the breeding business as our attention is required in other areas at this time in our lives.

To facilitate this transition we have entered into an agreement with Dave and Carmel Baird of River Lane Ranch, just outside of Edmonton, Alberta Canada.

The River Lane Ranch team will be taking over the task of managing every aspect of our herd including training, sales and marketing.

We are excited to begin this journey with this lovely family run ranch who also has an enthusiastic and caring staff to help make this all happen. Their high level of professionalism, as well as our friendship that has developed over the past few years makes them a great fit for helping us to ensure that our much loved horses will find their forever homes in a way that will benefit both the horses and the Gypsy Horse industry overall.

Thank you all so much for your support over the years, you have enriched our lives through this wonderful breed and we can’t say enough about how much this all means to us.

This will be a gradual process and we will be keeping our toes in, attending shows as we are able, maintaining precious friendships that we have made along the way, and connecting with the new owners of our beloved herd as they find their perfect homes. Blessings!
